ORIGINS & MOVEMENT
Carol Anne Jones is a visual artist and art educator whose practice spans photography, collage, print and painting. Born in Scotland, she spent her formative years in Malawi and teenage years living in Yorkshire, England. This cross-cultural beginning initiated a journey that continues to shape her sensitivity to shifting landscapes, cultures and ideas of contemporary belonging.
Having worked internationally in England, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, China and Egypt, her experiences of movement and transition continue to inform her practice.

THE PRACTICE
Her work unfolds in series, with each body of work building on the last to form an evolving narrative. Through layered imagery, she explores places across different moments in time, drawing on investigative reality, memory and recollection.
"These fragments form atmospheric visual artworks that sit between notions of the real and the imagined, shaped by movement and transition."
Working across a variety of media including digital photography, collage, drawing, print and painting, she thoughtfully constructs multi-layered compositions with paint, ink, collage and digital manipulation from specks of everyday surroundings. These elements draw on both personal experience and wider cultural references, including literature, media imagery, history and ancient civilisations.

Carol Anne studied Visual Art at the University of Leeds and holds a Master of Creative Practice from the University of Chester. Her work has been exhibited in group exhibitions including Crocus Gallery, Nottingham, St. Mary’s Centre, and the Contemporary Art Space in Chester, England.
