A Gap in Time process drawings and collages
A series of loose mixed media drawings and collages developed as part of the research process, exploring the space between written ideas and finished artworks. These experimental studies function as visual thinking, allowing concepts, materials, and compositions to be tested before they are resolved in a final piece. Rather than serving as preparatory sketches alone, they reveal the evolving dialogue between text, image, and process, making visible the often unseen stages of experimentation, reflection, and discovery. They bridge the gap between initial visualisation and completed work, offering insight into how ideas are translated, transformed, and refined through making.
This series was originally shown in an exhibition at Contemporary exhibition space, Chester, UK. A Gap in Time explored how the human mind perceives and constructs time, translating these internal processes into layered visual movement through digital constructions. This was a significant project made during my relocation to Dubai, involving the lives of aviation pilots. The project draws on neuroscience and theories of perception, engaging with the scientific premise that time is not directly sensed like space or matter, but is entirely constructed by the brain reshaping personal time structures.
