About the artwork: Part of the Egypt Series. Not every chapter of the Egypt Series is set in Egypt, other places and passing moments become part of every story. Inspired by memories of a brief journey to Lisbon, West of Cairo reflects the Atlantic light, ocean air and change of perspective experienced before returning to Cairo. Departures and returns are part of living in a place, and that even brief journeys become woven into its story.
